Beginning and intermediate fencing classes are taught with foils, the standard initial training weapon for fencers.
Classes are offered in seven week sessions, open to ages 12 to adult. To sign up for a class, go to the YMCA Registration Page. If you experience any difficulty signing up, or have questions before doing so, please Contact Point Taken Fencing.

Beginning Fencing:

YMCA Members $30
Non-members $60
7 weeks

This class provides an introduction to the sport of fencing. Students learn the basic skills, movements, and terminology used in the sport, including attacks and defenses. After this class, you will know if this is the sport for you. Class sizes are limited, as equipment is provided by Point Taken Fencing.

Intermediate Fencing:

YMCA Members $25
Non-members $50
7 weeks

This class extends your knowledge of the sport of fencing. You will continue to hone the skills learned in Beginning Fencing, while being introduced to more advanced tactics. Group instruction and individual lessons are provided. This class is normally repeated. Students are encouraged to have their own equipment. A limited supply of rental equipment is available.
Prerequisites: Beginning Fencing and/or permission from a Point Taken coach.

Advanced Fencing:

YMCA Members $25
Non-members $50
7 weeks

Advanced instruction is provided for those fencers wishing to improve and perfect their skills. These sessions extend your knowledge of offensive and defensive strategies and tactics needed for competition at both the club level, and in USFA competitions.
Students are expected to have their own equipment.
Prerequisites: Intermediate Fencing and/or permission from a Point Taken coach.


Open Fencing:

Free to Intermediate
and Advanced Students

Time to test your skills. This session is available to intermediate and advanced students.
